Your Star Trek guide is a brief primer on the history of the franchise. In this episode, you learn the early history of the series. Star Trek first aired in September of 1966. The show had 2 pilots, a rarity in television history. The series was created by Gene Roddenberry, but he had quite a lot of help from others. The original series ran 3 seasons for a total of 79 episodes. It came from briefly in the mid 1970s with an animated show. Movies followed, and eventually more television series.
